TAI CHI / "The Grand Ultimate"
is the ancient wisdom art, philosophy, and natural self-healing system based on Chinese medicine and philosophy that teaches you how to balance and harmonize with your current environment and situation. The physical manifestation of Tai Chi principles are embodied in the self-defense / internal martial art of Tai Chi Chuan (“The Grand Ultimate Fist/Boxing”), a beautiful choreography of martial arts postures that seamlessly blend into each other, emphasizing whole body coordination and moving with the flowing quality and softness of water.
Practicing Taichi forms is sometimes described as a “Moving Meditation” and or "Swimming on Land,"
because of its ability to use its smooth spiralling movements to simultaneously develop integrated body power, calm the mind, soften the heart, settle the emotions, and strengthen one's spirit and resolve.
In conjunction with learning Taichi Form Choreography, the first stages of Taichi training also involves teaching the basics of the mother internal energy system: Qi Gong (“Lifeforce Practices”). This helps new and experienced students alike to breathe more naturally and deeply from the body’s main energy storing center, the lower Tan Tien (“Elixir Field”).
There are 5 major Tai Chi Chuan Family Styles: Chen, Yang, Wu, Hao, and Sun. The Yang Family Style is considered the most popular, but they are all excellent. Ultimately, it doesn’t really matters which style you choose to learn, rather the most essential component is to have consistent access to a good teacher and to regularly PRACTICE!
